Vote Water : Longitude Prize 2014

Longitude Prize 2014 is a challenge with a £10 million prize fund to help solve one of the greatest issues of our time.

Commemorating the 300th anniversary year of the challenge to pinpoint longitude at sea, Longitude Prize 2014 was announced by the Prime Minister last year and launched by BBC2’s Horizon (available on BBC iplayer) on 22 May 2014.  It is being developed and run by Nesta, supported by the National Maritime Museum, with the Technology Strategy Board as funding partner.  The reinstated Longitude Committee, chaired by Astronomer Royal Martin Rees, is overseeing the Prize.

Six major issues facing the world have been shortlisted and the UK can now get involved and have its say in deciding which should be the focus of Longitude Prize 2014 #longitudeprize
