WETPOL 2015

Only 4weeks to go and the 6th International Symposium on Wetland Pollutant Dynamics and Control - WETPOL 2015- and the CWA's annual conference will take place in York.

This is a brief summary of what's on offer.

There are over 160 presentations and posters from around the world, with sessions including:
*Sewage treatment systems (reed beds)
*Microbial interactions
*Catchment management strategies for urban and agricultural settings
*Environmental accounting, including ecosystem services and environmental impact assessments
*Process gas emissions and carbon sequestration
*Nanomaterials, metals and metalloids, pharmaceuticals and personal care products
*Microbial fuel cells in wetlands
*Water reuse and resource recovery
*Development and applications of models of wetlands hydraulics, pollutant transformations and transport, and clogging.
*Sludge drying reed beds
*Industrial wastewater treatment systems

For the first time, we also have two pre-conference workshops offered by top scientists in the Modelling and Nanomaterials arenas. Places for the workshops are limited and separate registration fees apply for them. See programmes attached.

We have negotiated special bed and breakfast rates with the Park Inn (conference venue). Places are allocated on a first come, first serve basis. Please email the hoteldirectly if you wish to book a room at quoting WETPOL2015.

Delegates can attend a field trip to visit natural and constructed wetlands (reed beds) or, alternatively, a guided walking tour of York. Whilst included in the registration price, the tours have limited places so remember to indicate your preference when you register to avoid disappointment.

We will host a Welcome Reception at the Park Inn hotel (venue), enjoy a unique dining experience at the amazing National Railway Museum, and visit the RHS gardens at Harlow Carr. Please remember to indicate you wish to attend these and specify any dietary requirements when you register so we can cater to your needs.

If you haven't done so, remember to register by the 24th August to access regular registration fees.

Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Looking forward to seeing you in York!

4th Low Energy Wastewater Treatment System Conference and 3rd Wastewater Network Conference

The 4th Low Energy Wastewater Treatment Systems Conference and the 3rd Wastewater Network Conference will take place at Cranfield University, and is supported by The Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management (CIWEM).

With the ever increasing need for robust, sustainable and efficient treatment, innovation in low energy and resource recovery technologies are critical for helping the water industry meet its performance targets and be future-ready.

The conference is organised by the Wastewater Network and Cranfield University, and will take place on the 24th of September 2015 at Cranfield University.

The draft programme for the conference includes speakers from the water industry and academics:

Keynotes

Low energy wastewater treatment - A paradigm?
Maxine Mayhew, Northumbrian Water

Fat, Oil and Grease (FOG) waste - transforming from fatberg nuisance to a beneficial resource
Tom Curran, University College Dublin

Preliminary Programme

Assessing technologies to meet very low phosphorus limits
Peter Vale, Severn Trent Water

Making algae reactors feasible for wastewater treatment in the UK
Bruce Jefferson, Cranfield University
